Our
Story
Steering Positive Minds CIC has been spearheaded by a Northern Ireland family involved in motorsport for many years who have both personal and professional experience of the impact of mental ill health. Fueled by compassion and empathy. Who reached out to friends, colleagues, members of the motorsport community and Mental health organizations to commence the journey to focus on Mental health within the motorsport community and beyond and create a mental health ethos in Motorsport. We are a 'Non-Profit' volunteer led organization funded through donations. We have introduced some merchandise for your to consider purchasing to contribute to supporting our function.

Motorsport clubs, Teams, Manufacturers and Circuits in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland recognize the importance of good mental health in their community. The cohesive spirit of the motorsport is fantastic, with so many mental health and wellbeing benefits. We see this as the environment to nurture our motorsport community and break the stigma around mental health, fostering a network of support in our motorsport community. As life presents struggles for us all at one point or another. Steering Positive Minds and our collaborating organizations are dedicated to bringing the focus of mental health and self care to the fore with education and learning, access to support, resources and providing signposting to routes of appropriate Mental health support to the motorsport community.

Motorsport is particularly male dominated and it is well researched and documented that men can find it difficult to speak out or seek help when they need it. Alarmingly:

''SUICIDE IS THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH OF YOUNG ADULTS UNDER 35 YEARS OF AGE IN THE UNITED KINGDOM''. (PAPYRUS prevention on young suicide)

What we do?
Empowering Mental Wellness

Inspiring Positive Change Every Day

At Steering Positive Minds, we aim to raise awareness of and promote mental health and wellbeing through motorsport in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We are dedicated to providing a safe space at motorsport events in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland for individuals to explore supports for and improve their mental well-being with trained Mental health volunteers. Available to provide a welcoming space and meaningful conversations. To offer a wealth of resources from coping strategies to complimentary activities, aimed at guiding you towards a path of positivity and self-care and signposting to local mental health and crisis intervention support if necessary . We believe that every small step towards mental wellness is a triumph, and we are here to support you on your journey. Together, let's navigate the ups and downs of life with resilience and hope.

Our vision is to expand across all motorsport disciplines. We have our first Ambassador in the rally discipline competing in the Mental Health and crisis intervention livery, which he volunteered to Steering Positive Minds and Mental health organisations throughout Ireland to raise awareness of mental health. He also completed accredited suicide prevention and Mental health First Aid training for his role. Our ultimate vision is to develop our Ambassador network to include other racing disciplines. We intend to focus on the needs of the community as we progress with programs of support to best meet their needs.

Together we can break the stigma and provide a strong mental health ethos among motorsport in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Physical and mental health are interrelated. Our physical health can impact our mental health and vice versa. You will see a lot of information on our social media addressing both for this very reason.
We are not experts and mental illnesses are best treated by professionals with the expertise to support you. However, we endeavor to empower you with the knowledge, skills, peer support, self care, appropriate resources and signpost you to the appropriate organizations to access if you have mental health challenges.
