About Us

Our
Story
Steering Positive Minds CIC was spearheaded by a Northern Ireland family involved in motorsport for many years who have both personal and professional experience of the impact of mental ill health. Fueled by compassion and empathy. Who reached out to friends, colleagues, members of the motorsport community and Mental health organizations to commence the voluntary journey to raise awareness of Mental health within the motorsport community and beyond creating a community of volunteer mental health champions and Ambassadors raising awareness of mental health. Providing opportunities to connect, support one another and work together collectively as a community with a mission to promote mental health and wellbeing. We are a 'Non-Profit' volunteer-led organization funded through donations. We have introduced some merchandise for your to consider purchasing to contribute to supporting our function.

Motorsport clubs, Teams, Manufacturers and Circuits in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland recognize the importance of good mental health in their community. The cohesive spirit of the motorsport is fantastic, with so many mental health and wellbeing benefits. We see this as a lovely environment to nurture the community and break the stigma around mental health, fostering a network of support. As life presents struggles for us all at one point or another. Part of the work of the Steering Positive Minds community is to raise awareness of mental health with education and learning, support, resources and signposting to routes of appropriate Mental health support to the motorsport community and beyond.

Motorsport is particularly male dominated and it is well researched and documented that men can find it difficult to speak out or seek help when they need it. Alarmingly:

We are available to offer an empathic listening ear and engage in meaningful conversations. To provide a wealth of resources from coping strategies to complimentary activities, aimed at guiding the community towards a path of positivity, self-care and signposting to local mental health and crisis intervention support if necessary . Together, we aim to promote opportunities to face life's challenges with resilience and optimism.

Physical and mental health are interrelated. Our physical health can impact our mental health and vice versa. You will see a lot of information on our social media addressing both for this very reason.
Steering Positive Minds volunteer Mental Health Champions are not experts and mental ill-health may require treatment by professionals with the expertise to support you. However, we endeavor to empower you with the knowledge, skills, peer support, self care, positiviity, appropriate resources and signpost you to the appropriate organizations to access if you have mental health challenges.
